To obtain a passport
Travelers must provide two new 2"x2" photos (a Valley Photo Service!) To confirm identification, passport officials generally require a driver's license. To demonstrate citizenship, they generally require a birth certificate, naturalization certificate or previous passport.
Where to apply
Throughout the United States ask for the official location at you local post office, or call the National Passport Information Center at (900)225-5674. A recorded information system operates around the clock; operators are available on weekdays 5am to 5pm.
In Bureau County and surrounding areas you can call the office of the Bureau County Circuit Clerk at (815)872-2001, option 6. The office’s hours are 8am to 4pm and location is at
700 South Main Street, inside the Bureau County Courthouse.
Processing Time & Prices
In ordinary cases, the goal of the U.S. Passport Office is to process applications within 6 weeks. The earlier you get your application in the better chance you have to receive it in plenty of time.
First time applicants and those age 16 and over generally pay an application fee of $97. For adult travelers renewing a passport issued in the last 15 years is $67. New passports for children under 16 are $82. Amendments (name changes, for example) are free within the first year of issuance. A passport must be renewed after the one year time for the renewing fee $67. Additional pages are free. To expedite a passport request is an additional $60.
